The Ace in the Turkish Home Textile Sector is 'Value-Added Production'

Bursa-based companies operating in the home textile sector participated in the Heimtextil Fair held in Frankfurt, Germany. Industry representatives evaluating the fair stated their belief in overcoming cost pressures and the Far East dilemma through value-added production.

The Heimtextil Fair, which opened its doors in Frankfurt on January 9th, hosted representatives from the home textile sector. Especially, companies from China and India presented their new products to visitors at the fair. With the organization of KFA Fairs, a subsidiary of the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, more than 50 companies from Bursa participated in the fair.

"They Represent Turkey in the World"
Ibrahim Burkay, President of the Board of Directors of BTSO, stated that Turkey has significant manufacturing experience in the textile sector. Mentioning that the foreign sales of the home textile sector have approached 5 billion dollars and the average export value per kilogram has exceeded 8 dollars, Ibrahim Burkay expressed that sector representatives continue to represent Turkey in the best possible way with their production capabilities and export successes. President Burkay, mentioning that more than 50 companies participated in the fair through KFA Fairs's organization, said that Turkish companies stood out at the fair with their products that combine design and quality. Reminding that under the leadership of BTSO, they have realized many exemplary works ranging from value-added production to foreign trade fair organizations, digital and green transformation-focused projects, and procurement delegations, Ibrahim Burkay emphasized that the HOMETEX Fair organized for the home textile sector by KFA Fairs in collaboration with TETSİAD also strengthened the sector.

"HOMETEX Became the Number One Fair for Us"
Ufuk Oçak, Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Uludağ Textile Exporters Association and TETSİAD, emphasized that they will never give up the fight against the challenges in the textile sector. Oçak continued his speech as follows: "Here, both our colleagues from Bursa and across the country continue their struggle while showcasing their products. In Turkish textiles, now the third or even fourth generations have begun to take over the business. Our industry has a significant accumulation. We can produce high-value-added products. We can use high technology. We closely follow innovations in raw materials, machinery, and knowledge accumulation. Turkish textiles, with this accumulation and talent pool, are in a structure that will move forward, not backward. We have a motto, 'If Bursa Grows, Turkey Grows.' We will continue to contribute to the goals of our city and our country by expanding our business." Stressing the importance of HOMETEX for Turkish home textiles, Ufuk Oçak said, "We showcase our success and real strength at HOMETEX. Our sector representatives have already started preparations for the fair to be held in Istanbul between May 21-25. For us, HOMETEX has become the number one fair in the world."

"Despite Challenges, We Will Continue Our Struggle"

Mehmet Akyıldız, Member of the Board of Directors of Ustaoğlu Textile, stated that they have been participating in the Heimtextil Fair for about 10 years. Akyıldız said, "After the stagnation we experienced during the pandemic, I can say that we see an appetite among buyers. In the world, countries like China, Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh are among our competitors. We chose to carry out value-added production and differentiation to stand out among them. We are seeing the benefits of this. We develop products that differentiate themselves with embroidery, lace, accessories, and packaging. Both our ability to produce in smaller quantities and our superior quality are big advantages for us, along with our geographical location close to important markets in the world."
Mentioning that they have started preparations for HOMETEX, İhsan İrman said, "We are eagerly awaiting HOMETEX. Thanks to KFA Fairs, we have regained the fair as an industry. I also thank them for their efforts." Meanwhile, Consul General Erdem Tunçer visited the stands of Turkish companies at the fair.
